#MetGala #FluffyEdition
/Oh the Met Gala. Probably one of my favorite celebrity events of the year. I enjoy it better than fashion week because it allows me to see how celebrities interpret the theme and what type of twists they added to it.
For those who are unaware of what the Met Gala is: On the first Monday in May, Vogue magazine organizes a themed fundraising gala for the Metropolitan Museum of Arts Costume Institute in NYC. The event serves as an opening for the Costume Institute’s annual exhibit. Celebrities are to choose their fashion to match the theme of the exhibit and this years theme was, “Camp”. Camp style simply put is “It’s not what it seems”; everything is to be looked at in quotations. Styles are usually bolder than bold, think drag queens...literally -which is why it was so fitting for Big Freedia to perform. Ok so while other mainstream media focuses on the typical house celebrity names, I’m going to focus on the Elite handful of PSD(plus size divas) that I saw hit the pink carpet. This is the Met Gala 2019: Fluffy Edition…
Mindy Kaling
Mindy said her dress was inspired by her movie, Ocean’s 8 which came out last June. She wore a gold sequined gown from Moschino featuring a bow shoulder. The bulky look was complete with chandelier earrings and wavy blonde tresses to meet the "camp" theme.

Ashley Graham
Ashley was in #Gucci galore. Literally head to toe GUCCI. She started with a long slick low ponytail that included a few Gucci hair clips. Then she wore a red and green “Dapper Dan” Gucci blazer as a dress and paired it with crystal covered stockings that doubles as boots. Yes honey, the thighs were out tonight!

Paloma Elsesser
The Model showed off her curves in what looks like a two piece denim set from the Brock collection. She pair this with a “campy” makeup look that gave us thin drag-esque eyebrows, bright eyeshadow and a deep lip color.

Bevy Smith
Bevy made buzz because she decided to do #allblackeverything, from her fragrance to her gown. In her words she explained her take on camp; “When I hear camp, I’m definitely imagining doing too much. I see camp as the black gay ballroom scene, hair shows, the 1970s barmaids that I saw growing up with hot pants, fur jackets, four-inch long nails, and a myriad of gold and diamond necklaces”. She wore a rose colored custom gown that had a cape overlay and in her usual Bevy style her famous cleavage was in attendance as well. Yo go Muva Bevy!!!!

Lizzo
LIZZO! This has been a phenomenal year for her! The rising star attended her first #MetGala looking very “campy” in her Marc Jacobs fit. It was bright, fuzzy and OH SO LIZZO...Our girl even wore this to the airport the next morning lol.
PEEP HER CAPTION….I LOVE IT!!
